Assisi Loop Lounge®

Assisi Loop Lounge is a rechargeable PEMF therapy bed that generates the same patented targeted pulsed electromagnetic field (tPEMF) therapy as Assisi Loop, which delivers a micro-current targeting the body’s own natural anti-inflammatory process.

About the Assisi Loop Lounge®

The Assisi Loop Lounge® offers a safe, non-invasive, non-pharmaceutical pain management technology that can be used as a stand-alone therapy or in conjunction with the treatment plan prescribed by a veterinarian.

The lounge delivers a micro-current that helps enhance the body's natural production of nitric oxide, fasten the healing of soft and hard tissues—including the skin, tendons, ligaments, bones, and organs.

PEMF is used in pain management, osteoarthritis, inflammation, post-surgical healing and wound healing. Loop Lounge is suitable for rabbits, cats and dogs.

Optimal Comfort and Total Body Treatment

The Assisi Loop Lounge PEMF bed provides a comfortable space for pets to receive healing treatments at home, thereby reducing any stress.

The treatment field of Loop Lounge extends up to 25cm (10 inch) from the surface of the therapy pads, which means dogs or cats can receive a whole body anti-inflammatory treatment from head to toes.

Initial Treatments

Regardless of what is being treated, it is recommended that you start with 3 to 4 treatments per day of 15-minutes each for acute and chronic or degenerative conditions.

Acute Conditions

For acute conditions (such as post-surgical treatment or recovery from a trauma), we recommend that you continue 3 to 4 treatments per day for the first week or so and then taper off for the next 7 to 10 days or until the condition is fully healed.

Chronic Conditions

For chronic or degenerative conditions, we recommend that you continue with 3 to 4 treatments per day for 7 to 10 days and monitor the animal until you see improved mobility and less pain response. Again, you can taper down to 1 or 2 treatments per day or even 1-3 treatments per week. With some chronic and degenerative conditions, the patient may get to the point that they would only be treated as needed for pain, particularly if it is a condition that is prone to flare-ups.

A full list of protocols is available in the clinical use guide. Please download and share appropriate protocols with your clients.

Frequently Asked Questions

While the Assisi Loop REGULATES blood flow, it can increase blood flow and tissue oxygenation for patients who have poor blood flow to areas, which improves the overall tissue health and reduces pain associated with lack of sufficient oxygen. We often hear reports from pet owners that their animal relaxes as soon as they start their treatments with the Loop. With the many healing benefits that the Loop offers, this is not surprising.

Some animals will notice the increased blood flow because with increased circulation there is often a warming or tingling sensation. This is subtle, however, and many animals won't notice at all.

For acute inflammation, you should see noticeable relief after the first or second treatment. With chronic or degenerative issues, you may not see notable results for 1 to 2 weeks. You’ll want to continue the treatments as recommended for continued long-term healing.

The battery for the Assisi Loop Lounge is anticipated to last for 6000 uses. To replace the battery, please contact us or the vet clinic where you purchased the Loop Lounge from. Please DO NOT open any loop lounge components in the attempt to replace batteries.

The Assisi Loop Lounge is NOT powered by electrical current drawn from the wall outlet but instead by an internal battery in the tPEMF Controller Box. Even if the wire insulation is damaged or pierced by your pet, the 12v current in the Loop Lounge is harmless. If your pet can't stop chewing the wire, the cord from the pad can be safely sprayed with commercial chewing deterrents for pets.

If your pet has received at least 10 minutes of treatment, you may wait until the next schedule treatment otherwise there is no harm in starting another partial or complete cycle.

Out of an abundance of caution, we recommend not using the Assisi Loop Lounge if you or your pet has a pacemaker or other electronic devices.

The size of veterinary implants are not sufficient to significantly distract, weaken or otherwise adversely affect the therapeutic effect of the Loop Lounges' signal. Additionally, many veterinary surgical implants are made of non-magnetic materials, so there are no magnetic induction effects from the Loop Lounges' signal.

The Science

A field is created by running an electrical current through a coiled wire (inductive coils) to generate low level electromagnetic fields in the body which penetrates both soft and hard body tissue around the target area to affect a variety of biological processes. This field stimulates the normal anti-inflammatory cascades by a series of chemical reactions which activates the Nitric Oxide Cycle. Nitric Oxide is known to be a key molecule in healing for both humans and animals. This compound is released when we are injured or exercising for the body to naturally repair itself. Increases in the production of Nitric Oxide to help speed up the healing process of soft and hard. By using the specific ratio of frequency to burst width, the Assisi Loop has been proven to be the most effective at delivering the amount of current that is similar to what is already used by the body.

According to Gaynor: ‘The targeted PEMF technologies do not themselves cause bone growth or tissue regeneration outside of the context of injured tissue. This characteristic is likely part of the reason that these technologies are not associated with any known side-effects nor adverse events when used within clinical guidelines and indications for use.’ Gaynor et al., 2018.

To delve further into the mechanism of action for PEMF and clinical evidence, this review by Gaynor (2018) gives excellent coverage of PEMF in human and veterinary medical fields. It explains how the targeted PEMF waveform results in very efficient delivery of electric field to tissues, ensuring beneficial clinical effects of reduced inflammation in soft tissues, with small doses of treatment. Study published in The Journal of Neurotrauma, 2018

This randomized, placebo-controlled, prospective clinical trial found that using the Assisi Loop to treat dogs with spinal cord injuries due to acute intervertebral disc extrusions (IVDE) resulted in:

  • Significant difference in incisional pain between Loop treated and placebo group
  • Lower levels of inflammatory biomarkers (GFAP) indicating neuroprotective qualities
  • Improved proprioceptive function

(Zidan et al., 2018).

Study published in The Journal of the American Animal Hospital Association, 2019

This double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial found that using the Assisi Loop to treat dogs suffering from intervertebral disk disease (IVDD) resulted in:

  • Significant improvement in wound healing for Loop treated compared to placebo
  • Reduction in opioid (pain) administration: opioid medications were administered almost 50% less frequently in Loop treated group
  • No side effects

(Olby et al., 2019).

Review of Veterinary applications of PEMF published in Research in Veterinary Science, 2018

PEMF devices have been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat:

  • Non-union fractures
  • Post-operative pain and oedema
  • Osteoarthritis
